this week we learned about Africa
classic African house
there are a not of different types of houses round, ovoid, square, or rectangular and made of stones, brick, mud, wood, or straw. there is also the circle and square house the circle is the classic version and the square came about the the 20th century. there houses weren't built like the houses we normally think of when we think of a house they were very open and housed not just the family but extended family and animals.
furniture
Stools are the most common type of seating in Africa and are normally low to the ground. they were normaly carved out of 1 pice of wood event though they were simple they were very durable.
Dogon stools use carved people to represent ancestors and connect the earth and sky.
